Position Summary (TS/SCI Required):
Are you a highly motivated and experienced program analyst with a passion for supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF)? We are seeking a skilled Joint SOF Program Analyst (JSPA) to provide critical support to Joint Headquarters (JHQ) and Joint Task Forces (JTFs). In this dynamic role, you will contribute to operational planning, program development, and JHQ/JTF sustainment efforts, directly impacting the readiness and effectiveness of these critical units. Your expertise in data analysis, operational assessments, and process optimization will be instrumental in ensuring alignment with USSOCOM strategic objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with government leadership, including General Officers and Senior Executives (GO/FO/SES), and contribute to high-impact missions.
Core Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
As a Joint SOF Program Analyst, you will independently and proactively undertake a range of tasks, including:
Assisting in the development of operational plans and strategic initiatives that directly support JHQ/JTF missions.
Evaluating and recommending improvements to JHQ/JTF performance metrics, training requirements, and overall sustainment strategies.
Providing comprehensive decision-support analysis to government leadership (GO/FO/SES) to inform critical decisions.
Supporting JHQ/JTF deployment readiness activities, including meticulous staffing synchronization, thorough planning, and efficient resource allocation.
Managing project coordination efforts, developing robust sustainment strategies, and diligently tracking milestones for various JHQ/JTF initiatives.
Developing clear and concise briefings, comprehensive operational reports, and insightful policy recommendations for SOF leadership.
Contributing to the development of operational-level plans that align with strategic USSOCOM objectives.
Evaluating and recommending innovative improvements to JHQ/JTF performance-based operations.
Developing and recommending a phased support approach to achieve an optimal architecture and process for establishing and sustaining uniquely adapted JHQ/JTF capabilities, informed by lessons learned.
Maintaining and delivering an Executive Level framework that effectively captures how resource management decisions are supported by a common operating picture and enterprise-wide real-time data for established JHQ/JTFs.
Providing expert consultation and advice on complex issues, conducting thorough research and analysis to recommend well-reasoned changes to management. This includes developing and presenting alternative Courses of Action (COAs) to General Officer level and Service-specific or Joint Service agencies for decisions.
Performing essential functions that support JHQ/JTF Program Coordination and seamless Implementation.
Providing comprehensive administrative support to the government, including coordinating meetings, preparing professional presentation materials, and drafting detailed meeting minutes to facilitate and document JHQ/JTF related activities.
Assisting in the development of clear roadmaps, detailed plans, and concise technical briefing materials in prescribed government formats (both hard copy and digital), while also ensuring electronic aggregation of these documents in accordance with DoD policies and best practices for government accessibility and record-keeping.
Demonstrating a strong understanding and ability to leverage knowledge of the strategic-level environment, key issues, atmospherics, dynamics, requirements, and processes utilized within the Joint Staff, OSD, the Interagency, National Security Council Staff, and subordinate Component Commands to achieve desired government outcomes.
Preparing, meticulously editing, and critically reviewing written orders, comprehensive plans, detailed briefings, and insightful papers. Effectively presenting analyses of these products orally to senior leaders, including GO/FO and SES.
Providing clear, concise, accurate, easily understandable, and technically correct information papers, memos, and briefings to effectively inform and influence senior leader decision-making processes.
Facilitating government-led seminars and engaging small group discussions at staff development events to optimize the execution of JHQ/JTF related pre-deployment preparation, deployment, and redeployment activities.
Assisting the government in its detailed analysis of DOD operations, plans, and overarching strategies to accurately identify JHQ/JTF key tasks, critical objectives, and effective plans for achieving strategic, operational, and tactical effects within their area of operations and broader area of influence.
Assisting the government in the comprehensive analysis, thorough evaluation, and objective assessment of the impacts of external plans, evolving policies, and pertinent guidance on USSOCOM’s employment of JHQ/JTFs – while also proactively making well-supported recommendations for responding to external guidance, emerging requirements, and other critical factors that may affect an existing JHQ/JTF capability or its future employment and sustainment.
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience
Proven experience supporting military operations, preferably within the Special Operations Forces community.
Demonstrated ability to develop operational plans, analyze data, and provide strategic recommendations.
Strong understanding of JHQ/JTF structures, processes, and deployment cycles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to senior leaders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
